A brutal incident has sent shockwaves through Guwahati after a 25-year-old woman was found murdered inside her flat in the city. The tragedy unfolded in the Basisthapur area under Hatigaon police limits, leaving the local community terrified and investigators facing a deeply disturbing crime scene.
The deceased was identified as Riya Talukdar Goswami, who lived in the apartment with her husband. The couple had tied the knot only a few months ago. While neighbors were used to seeing a seemingly quiet residential setup, the reality inside the four walls of the flat turned out to be horrifying.
The incident came to light on Sunday night when residents living nearby noticed a foul smell coming from the locked residence. Growing suspicious and concerned about the unusual silence from the flat, they quickly informed the local authorities to inspect the premises.
Upon arriving at the location and gaining entry into the apartment, the investigating team uncovered a horrific scene. The victim’s headless body was lying on the floor. A search of the kitchen revealed that her severed head had been wrapped inside a polythene bag and hidden inside the refrigerator. Officials also found that several of her fingers had been cut off.
