The National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS), Kochi, has released details of the 2nd NUALS–CCI National Antitrust Moot Court Competition 2026, to be conducted in hybrid format. The event is organised by NUALS in partnership with the Competition Commission of India (CCI), the statutory body responsible for enforcing competition law in India under the Competition Act, 2002.
The competition will be held across two weekends. The inaugural ceremony, preliminary rounds, and quarter-final rounds will take place virtually on 3rd and 4th October 2026. The semi-final rounds, final rounds, and valedictory ceremony will be conducted on-campus at NUALS, Kochi, on 10th and 11th October 2026.
The moot proposition will be released on 4th September 2026, marking the commencement of registration. Teams seeking clarifications may do so until 15th September 2026, with the clarification document to be released on 17th September 2026. The final date for registration is 20th September 2026, and memorials must be submitted by 25th September 2026.
Registration is conducted in two stages. Stage I registration requires a fee of INR 2,500 per team, inclusive of tax, and is considered complete only upon submission of the registration form and payment of the fee. Teams qualifying for the semi-final rounds will be issued Stage II registration links and payment links separately via their registered email addresses. The Stage II registration fee is INR 4,500 per team, inclusive of tax. The registration fee is non-refundable except as determined by the organising committee.
Cash prizes have been announced for various categories. The winning team will receive INR 40,000, the runner-up INR 20,000, and the teams securing third and fourth positions will each receive INR 10,000. Additional awards include INR 10,000 each for the Best Memorial and Best Speaker.
The Centre for Competition Law and Policy (CCLP) at NUALS, which focuses on research and study of competition law and policy, is facilitating the event. The CCLP aims to promote competition, encourage efficient resource allocation, and address abuse of market power through research dissemination, capacity-building initiatives, and student-expert interactions.
NUALS, established in 2005 by the Kerala State Legislature, is recognised for its innovative legal education and strong moot court culture, with regular student participation in national and international competitions. The CCI, constituted under the Competition Act, 2002, regulates market practices, addresses cartels, abuse of dominant position, collusive tendering, and scrutinises mergers and acquisitions that may adversely affect competition, with a mandate to promote market efficiency, innovation, fair pricing, and consumer welfare.
