    Justice Sandeep Mehta Requests CJI Surya Kant to Replace Acting Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court

    Supreme Court Justice Sandeep Mehta has written to the Chief Justice of India seeking the immediate replacement of Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma of the Rajasthan High Court, citing misuse of administrative powers and manipulation of case listings ahead of his impending retirement.

    Supreme Court Justice Sandeep Mehta has addressed three letters to Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, dated August 2, August 10 and August 17, 2026, requesting the appointment of a Chief Justice from another state to head the Rajasthan High Court with immediate effect. In these communications, Justice Mehta alleges that Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma has misused his administrative authority and manipulated judicial listings to favour certain litigants in the period leading up to his retirement, which is expected later next month.
